Nigerian Misfire Takes Out A Refugee Camp

A Nigerian fighter jet misfired during an operation that was meant to target Boko Haram. Instead, the airstrike hit refugees at a camp for the internally displaced in Borno, killing scores of asylum seekers and aid workers with the International Committee of the Red Cross. The Nigerian government has been pretty vague so far, attributing the huge mistake to soldiers who may have been “affected” during the airstrike. The government hasn’t provided an official death toll either, but Doctors Without Borders believe over 52 people are dead and an additional 120 people are seriously wounded.
