Pakistan Expels Over 100 Teachers So Turkey Can Put Them In Time-Out
At the Turkish government’s request, Pakistan ordered more than 100 Turkish teachers and their families to leave the country by the end of the week. The teachers work at a chain of international schools throughout Pakistan, and the Turkish government believes they were somehow linked to the US-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen and the failed coup attempt. The schools deny this claim. A petition by school management is circulating PakTurk International Schools and Colleges, but it looks like the teachers and their families – over 450 people in total – will be denied visa extensions. Turkish President Erdogan called Pakistan’s decision, “very pleasing,” and probably said it while he sat on a thrown petting a hairless cat.
