12 Moments That Defined The 2nd Presidential Debate

It was the moment we’d all been waiting for since the firestorm that was ignited on Friday. Nobody could predict what was going to happen in the second debate. We would know, we asked out readers, and only one anonymous person came close.

As he insinuated he would, Donald Trump paraded women who claimed that Bill Clinton sexually assaulted them in front of the media before the debate.

Donald Trump has previously attacked these women

The two candidates did not shake hands before the debate started

It didn’t take long for the footage of Donald Trump bragging about sexually assaulting women to come up.

He called it “locker room talk” multiple times and said “Nobody has more respect for women than I do.” Then he quickly pivoted to talking about ISIS.

Hillary Clinton said, “It represents exactly who he is,” and added that he has also targeted immigrants, African-Americans, Muslims, Latinos, POWs, and people with disabilities.

He also said this to Hillary Clinton:

Trump doubled down on the false claim that Hillary Clinton started the birther movement.

She did not.

Trump threatened to use his authority to investigate Clinton if he is elected

Hillary Clinton apologized once again and took responsibility for her private email server.

Clinton was asked about a part of a paid speech in which she said politicians should have public and private positions on issues.

Clinton said she was referring to Abraham Lincoln and pivoted to talking about Russia hacking members of the democratic party in order to influence the election in favor of Donald Trump.

Donald Trump lied about his support of the Iraq war, again

It was one of many times he lied, including when he claimed that he did not tell people to check out Alicia Machado’s sex tape (which does not exist).

He also said this:

The candidates were asked what kind of justices they would appoint to the Supreme Court

Clinton said she would appoint justices who would reverse Citizens United, understand that voting rights are still a big problem, support a woman’s right to choose and support marriage equality.

Trump said he would appoint someone in the mold of Antonin Scalia and would respect the second amendment.

The audience was purportedly made up of “undecided” voters, though it appears this man has now decided.

The debate did conclude with a handshake between the candidates

Perhaps because in the last question that candidates had to say one positive thing about their opponent. Clinton said she respected Trump’s children. Trump said Clinton was a fighter who never gave up. Even though he has said in the past that she has no stamina.

But this is all you need to read to understand the debate:

Yes, I want to sound marginally more intelligent:
